India Heatwave: Relief in Sight as Monsoon Approaches

Across India, the heatwave reached its peak during the last week of April. Temperatures in many parts of North India neared 45 degrees Celsius, significantly impacting daily life. The Meteorological Department has predicted the possibility of thunderstorms and rain in several areas due to pre-monsoon activity and western disturbances.

Weather Update: Intense heat continues to affect many states across India, including Delhi-NCR. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nationwide weather forecast. According to the department, some parts of Northwest India will experience continued heat and heatwave conditions, requiring people to exercise caution. Meanwhile, several areas in Northeast and South India are expected to experience rain and thunderstorms.

This change in weather is attributed to western disturbances and pre-monsoon activities, which may lead to a temperature drop in some states, offering some relief from the heat.

Delhi-NCR: Heat Followed by Evening Rain

Delhi and the NCR region (Gurugram, Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad) experienced intense sunshine and heat throughout Tuesday. Wednesday's maximum temperature is expected to be between 37-39 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will hover around 25 degrees Celsius. However, light rain and thunderstorms are likely in the late evening due to the impact of the western disturbance. This might make the night slightly more pleasant.

Rajasthan: Signs of Slight Relief in the Scorching Desert

Temperatures in western Rajasthan, including Jaisalmer, Barmer, and Bikaner, may reach 44-46 degrees Celsius. Heatwave conditions will persist, making venturing outdoors during the afternoon risky. However, cities like Jaipur, Kota, and Ajmer might experience light rain and dust storms due to the western disturbance, potentially leading to a 1-2-degree temperature drop.

Punjab and Haryana: Daytime Heat, Evening Relief

Strong hot winds will blow in Punjab and Haryana from morning to afternoon. Maximum temperatures in Ludhiana, Amritsar, Ambala, and Rohtak could reach 40 degrees Celsius. Strong winds (30-40 km/h) and light rain are possible in some areas in the afternoon, advising farmers and those working outdoors to exercise caution.

Uttar Pradesh: Intense Heatwave

Eastern UP (Gorakhpur, Ballia, Azamgarh) will experience intense heat and heatwave conditions, with temperatures potentially reaching 42 degrees Celsius. Western UP (Meerut, Moradabad, Saharanpur) will see cloudy skies and a possibility of light rain or thunderstorms. Cities like Lucknow and Varanasi will experience a hot day, but some relief is expected at night.

Bihar and Jharkhand: Hot Winds Followed by Rain

Bihar (Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur) and Jharkhand (Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad) will experience hot and humid weather from morning to afternoon. Light to moderate rain with b winds (40-50 km/h) is likely in the afternoon due to pre-monsoon activity. This may lead to a drop in nighttime temperatures.

Uttarakhand: Mountain Relief, Plains Experience Sweaty Weather

The plains of Uttarakhand (Dehradun, Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar) will experience heat and humidity, with temperatures exceeding 36 degrees Celsius. However, hilly areas like Mussoorie, Nainital, and Uttarkashi may experience light rain and showers. Light snowfall is also possible in the higher Himalayan region.

Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh: Strong Heat

Cities like Gwalior, Bhopal, and Indore in Madhya Pradesh will experience heat along with cloudy skies. Dust storms and rain are possible in some areas, with maximum temperatures expected between 38-40 degrees Celsius. Raipur and Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh may experience thunderstorms and rain, leading to a slight decrease in daytime temperatures.
