Bihar Launches "Every Home a School" Initiative to Encourage Dedicated Study Spaces

Bihar: News: The Bihar government has launched a significant initiative, "Har Ghar Ek Pathshala" (Every Home a School), aimed at improving the academic performance of children in government schools. This program focuses on creating a dedicated study space for each child at home, actively engaging parents in their children's education.

Encouraging Parents to Create Home Study Spaces

The initiative encourages parents to designate a quiet, distraction-free area in their homes for their children's studies. This could be near a door or window, providing a conducive learning environment. The space might include a chair or a mat on the floor. To further enhance the atmosphere, educational posters and schedules can be displayed on the walls.

Old boxes or cardboard can be used to organize children's books and materials. Crucially, the program emphasizes turning off TVs, mobiles, and other distractions to ensure children can focus fully on their studies.

Parent-Teacher Workshop to Detail the Initiative

A parent-teacher workshop will be held on May 31st in all government schools across the state. The workshop will provide detailed information about the "Har Ghar Ek Pathshala" initiative, including a review of summer vacation homework and learning materials. Parents will receive guidance on motivating their children and improving their learning process.

The workshop's theme is "We will read, grow, and learn." It will highlight the collaborative roles of schools and families in children's development, detailing the support provided by the school.

Ensuring Continued Learning During Summer Vacation

Summer vacation for Bihar's government schools begins on June 1st. To ensure continued learning, parents will be empowered and made aware of resources available. The workshop will showcase learning materials provided to students, including TLM kits, textbooks, workbooks, diaries, notebooks, pencils, bags, and water bottles.

Teachers will guide parents on the effective use of these materials to maintain children's engagement with their studies throughout the summer break, thus ensuring continuous learning.

Focus on Holistic Child Development

The workshop will not only focus on academics but also on the holistic development of children. Parents will receive information on their children's academic progress, regular attendance, hygiene (clothing, hair, and nails), proper nutrition, and school behavior and mental well-being.
