Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has suffered a significant setback ahead of a crucial IPL 2025 match against Delhi Capitals. Veteran all-rounder Smaran Ravichandran has been ruled out of the remainder of the tournament due to injury.
Sports News: Struggling Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has received another blow in IPL 2025. Young player Smaran Ravichandran is out of the tournament due to injury without playing a single match. This news is a major setback for SRH, especially before the important match against Delhi Capitals.
Smaran Ravichandran Out of Tournament Without Playing
Sunrisers Hyderabad confirmed that all-rounder Smaran Ravichandran will not participate in the remaining IPL 2025 matches due to injury. Ravichandran was added to the team a few weeks ago as a replacement for Adam Zampa, who played only two matches before withdrawing due to personal reasons. While Ravichandran was a hopeful replacement, he too has been ruled out before even stepping onto the field.
Harsh Dubey Replaces Ravichandran; SRH Announces Replacement
Following Ravichandran's withdrawal, SRH swiftly announced the inclusion of Vidarbha's left-arm spin all-rounder, Harsh Dubey. Dubey is known for his impressive performances in domestic cricket. He has taken 127 wickets and scored 941 runs in 16 T20s, 20 List A matches, and 18 first-class matches.
SRH signed Dubey for ₹30 lakh. He is considered a rising star in Indian domestic cricket. Recently, he achieved the feat of taking the most wickets in a single Ranji Trophy season (2024-25), breaking the record previously held by Bihar's Ashutosh Aman (68 wickets in 2018-19).
SRH's Playoff Hopes Almost Over
SRH has had a very disappointing season. Under Pat Cummins' captaincy, the team has played 10 matches, winning only 3. Hyderabad is currently ninth in the points table with only 6 points. Even if they win their remaining three matches, they will have a maximum of 14 points. Their playoff hopes will therefore depend on results favoring them from other teams.
SRH faces Delhi Capitals today, May 5th, at their home ground, Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. They then have matches against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). These matches will be crucial, essentially do-or-die encounters for SRH.
