Mohun Bagan's Bose Wins AIFF Men's Player of the Year

Mohun Bagan Super Giant's captain, Subhasish Bose, has been awarded the AIFF (All India Football Federation) Best Player of the Year award for his outstanding performance.

Sports News: The All India Football Federation (AIFF) Awards, Indian football's most prestigious annual event, concluded this year, honoring several rising stars. Players, coaches, and officials who demonstrated exceptional performance during the 2024-25 season were recognized for their contributions.

This year's award ceremony saw Mohun Bagan Super Giants' captain Subhasish Bose and East Bengal FC's forward Soumya Guguloth awarded 'Player of the Year' in the men's and women's categories, respectively.

Subhasish Bose: Leading from the Front

This season was unforgettable for Indian defender and Mohun Bagan captain, Subhasish Bose. Under his captaincy, Mohun Bagan Super Giants clinched two major titles in a single season: the League Winners Shield and the ISL Cup. Their 2-1 victory against Bengaluru FC in the final not only solidified Bose's leadership but also made them the second team in ISL history, after Mumbai City FC (2020-21), to achieve a double. Subhasish's discipline, strategic thinking, and dedication to the team made him the best player of the year.

Soumya Guguloth: Queen of Goals

East Bengal FC striker Soumya Guguloth received the 'Player of the Year' award in the women's category. Soumya's consistent goal-scoring throughout the season not only strengthened her team but also elevated the standard of women's football. Her impressive striking and aggressive gameplay throughout the tournament made her a deserving recipient of this award.

Stars Shine in Coaching

Jamshedpur FC coach Khalid Jamil received the 'Coach of the Year' title for the second consecutive time. Jamil's strategy and player management have transformed Jamshedpur into a formidable team. Meanwhile, Sujata Kar, who led Shree Bhoomi FC to third place in the Indian Women's League (IWL), was awarded the 'Women's Coach of the Year' title.

Bryson Fernandes, who has earned a special place among fans with his midfield prowess, was selected as the 'Men's Promising Player of the Year'. In the women's category, this honor went to 18-year-old defender Thoibishna Chanu, who captivated everyone with her resolute defensive style.

Guardians of the Goalpost: Vishal Kaith and Panthoi Chanu

The 'Goalkeeper of the Year' award was presented to Vishal Kaith and Panthoi Chanu. Kaith played a decisive role throughout the season, saving crucial goals in several challenging matches for his team, while Panthoi Chanu impressed everyone with her numerous clean sheets in the women's league.

Referees and Assistant Referees Honored

Venkatesh R received the 'Referee of the Year' award in the men's category, and Techcham Ranjita Devi in the women's category. Vairaimuthu P (men) and Riohlang Dhar (women) were recognized for their outstanding contributions as assistant referees.
