Celebi Aviation, a leading Turkish airport services company, plays a significant role in security and operations at Indian airports, fostering b ties with India's aviation industry.
Following 'Operation Sindhur', India's anger towards Turkey has increased, fueled by Pakistan's support and intensifying the 'Ban Turkey' campaign. However, Turkey's crucial role in security remains a challenge.
Celebi Aviation, a Turkish joint venture company, manages security at eight major Indian airports—including Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai—and plays a key role in the smooth operation of approximately 58,000 flights annually. Despite rising tensions between the two countries following 'Operation Sindhur', India needs to proceed with extreme caution and deliberation in security matters.
Celebi Aviation's Responsibilities
India's leading airline, IndiGo, has a codeshare arrangement with Turkish Airlines, while several other airlines, including Air India, also have ties with Turkish Airlines. Celebi Aviation not only handles airport security but also manages cargo management, airside operations, and ground handling. Its staff works in airside zones, which are high-security areas of the airport.
They are also responsible for cargo logistics and baggage handling for international flights, where any security lapse could have serious consequences. Given Turkey's close relationship with Pakistan, India must enhance its vigilance.
