Raibareli BJP leader Kasim Nakvi has written to CM Yogi, requesting a name change for Aurangzebpur village in Saharanpur, proposing it be renamed after Veer Abdul Hamid or Ashfaqulla Khan.

UP News: The demand to rename Aurangzebpur village, located in Sarsawa block of Saharanpur district, Uttar Pradesh, has once again gained momentum. Kasim Nakvi, the Mandal-Chhatoh president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s minority cell in Raibareli, has written a letter to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath regarding this matter. Nakvi has appealed for the village's name to be changed from that of an invader to that of freedom fighters.

Objection to the name Aurangzebpur?

Kasim Nakvi states that he has been working with the party's ideology for the past 17 years. He argues that it is unfortunate that villages in the state still bear the names of rulers like the invader Aurangzeb. Nakvi has demanded that the names of such villages be changed and that freedom fighters who sacrificed for the country be honored.

He suggests that Aurangzebpur in Saharanpur be renamed 'Veer Abdul Hamid', 'Ashfaqulla Khan', or after another revolutionary. Nakvi stated that this would be a step towards nationalism and a correct representation of history.

Nakvi's Appeal: A Question of Nationalism and Pride

Identifying himself as a nationalist Muslim, Kasim Nakvi wrote that he is proud to be working under Yogi Adityanath's leadership. He believes the government should ensure that no place is named after individuals who were invaders in history.

He wrote that by removing the names of such invaders, the heroes who sacrificed for the country's independence should be honored. Nakvi believes this step will send a positive message to society and inspire the younger generation.

Political and Social Impact

This demand for a name change is not limited to politics. Nakvi argues that it will also strengthen national unity and communal harmony in society. It will send a message that India remembers the heroes from every religion and community who sacrificed for the protection of Mother India.

Awaiting the Government's Response

According to sources, a detailed discussion on this demand is scheduled for Tuesday. It will be interesting to see what stance the state government takes on this proposal. The UP government has previously renamed several historical places, such as Allahabad to Prayagraj and Mughalsarai to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Nagar. Therefore, discussions regarding the possibility of renaming Aurangzebpur are intensifying.
