PM Modi Congratulates Sikkim on its 50th Anniversary, Condemns Pahalgam Attack as an Assault on Humanity, and Highlights the Strong Response in Operation Sindhur.
PM Modi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually participated in the 50th-anniversary celebrations of Sikkim on May 29, 2025. Due to inclement weather, PM Modi's scheduled visit to Sikkim was cancelled. However, he addressed the people of Sikkim virtually from Gangtok. During his address, he also discussed the success of Operation Sindhur, stating it was a b example of a decisive response to terrorists.
Sikkim Visit Cancelled Due to Bad Weather
Prime Minister Modi was scheduled to begin a four-state tour of the country on May 29, starting with Sikkim. A special event was organized in Gangtok to commemorate Sikkim's 50th anniversary as a state, in which PM Modi was to participate. However, due to adverse weather conditions, PM Modi's visit was cancelled.
Nevertheless, he virtually addressed the people of Sikkim from Bagdogra and congratulated them on the state's 50th anniversary. PM Modi lauded Sikkim's culture, heritage, and progress.
PM Modi Speaks on the Pahalgam Attack
In his address, PM Modi bly condemned the recent attack in Pahalgam. He stated, "What the terrorists did in Pahalgam was not just an attack on India, but an attack on humanity."
PM Modi said that through 'Operation Sindhur', India delivered a b response to the terrorists. Under Operation Sindhur, India destroyed terrorist bases and thwarted Pakistan's nefarious plots. He stated that the Indian army demonstrated India's capability to respond swiftly and decisively.
PM Modi added, "Pakistan attempted attacks on our citizens and soldiers, but their plans were foiled. We destroyed several of their airbases, showcasing India's strength. Today, the world sees that India is more united than ever, and we stand firmly against terrorism."
Appreciation for Sikkim's 50-Year Journey, Congratulations to the People
Congratulating Sikkim on its 50th anniversary, PM Modi said, "Fifty years ago, Sikkim embraced a democratic future. Its people demonstrated their belief that progress and equal opportunity are possible only when everyone's voice is heard, and everyone's rights are protected."
He stated that Sikkim has achieved numerous milestones in the last 50 years. Its people have played a significant role in India's development. PM Modi praised Sikkim's natural beauty, culture, and heritage, stating that its land boasts breathtaking natural splendor. The lakes, waterfalls, Buddhist monasteries, and Kanchenjunga National Park are all hallmarks of Sikkim, a source of pride not only for India but for the entire world.
Launch of Several Major Projects in Sikkim
PM Modi also discussed several development projects launched in Sikkim during his address. He said, "Today, a new skywalk is being built in Sikkim, the Golden Jubilee projects are being inaugurated, and a statue of Atal Ji is also being unveiled. All these projects symbolize Sikkim's new flight of development."
PM Modi commended the Chief Minister and the Sikkim government, stating, "You have organized a magnificent event to commemorate the 50th anniversary. The Chief Minister has worked tirelessly to make it a success. I congratulate the people of Sikkim for their significant contribution to democracy and development."
