Punjab: Amidst rising tensions between India and Pakistan, the Punjab government has taken significant steps. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced on Friday that those injured in war or terrorist incidents will receive free medical treatment. Furthermore, the Chief Minister appealed to the public to disregard rumors, assuring them that there are no shortages of essential supplies in the state.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann explicitly stated that despite the India-Pakistan tension, there are no shortages in Punjab. He also urged people not to fall prey to rumors, assuring them that there are sufficient supplies of essential commodities like diesel, petrol, and LPG. The Chief Minister announced that ministers will be deployed to border districts to prevent black marketing.
Significant Expansion of the 'Farishte' Scheme
Following a cabinet meeting, the Chief Minister announced the expansion of the state government's "Farishte" scheme. The scheme will now provide free medical treatment to individuals injured in war and terrorist incidents. Previously, the scheme covered those injured in road accidents, where the person who took the injured to the hospital was considered a "Farishta" (angel) and rewarded with ₹2000 and a certificate. The scheme has now been broadened to include victims of war and terrorist attacks.
Strict Security Measures in Border Areas
The Chief Minister also reported that security has been tightened in the state's border areas. He stated that constant communication is being maintained with Deputy Commissioners and Tehsildars of border districts. The Punjab government is fully prepared to provide any assistance required by the army.
Long Queues at Petrol Pumps, Appeal to Avoid Rumors
Due to the current tense situation, long queues are being observed at petrol pumps in Punjab, and people are also creating pressure to fill gas cylinders. The Chief Minister appealed to the people to rely on authentic information and avoid unnecessary panic.
