Former US President Donald Trump praised the leadership of both India and Pakistan in a May 11th post, expressing pride in America's contribution to this historic decision.
Washington. The recent ceasefire declaration between India and Pakistan has eased tensions between the two nations. Meanwhile, former US President Donald Trump surprised everyone with a significant statement, suggesting that even complex issues like Kashmir could now be resolved.
India's Retaliation: Operation Sindhur
Following a major terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in the martyrdom of Indian soldiers, India launched air strikes on terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). This mission was codenamed "Operation Sindhur" by the Indian Army.
India's action caused alarm in Pakistan. In response, Pakistan attempted drone attacks on several parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Gujarat. However, the Indian defense system successfully neutralized all drones in a timely manner.
India's Strong Response to Pakistan's Actions
India responded firmly to these Pakistani actions, targeting four Pakistani airbases and inflicting significant damage. The situation between the two countries became so tense that it neared war-like conditions along the borders.
Trump Claims US Played a Major Role in the Ceasefire
On the morning of May 11th, former US President Donald Trump posted a message praising the leadership of both India and Pakistan. He stated, "I am proud of the b and unwavering leadership of both India and Pakistan. America is proud to have helped in this historic decision."
Trump further added that while there had been no formal talks on Kashmir, he would work with India and Pakistan to increase trade and resolve the long-standing Kashmir dispute.
US Diplomatic Efforts Before the Ceasefire
According to Trump's statement, the US played a crucial role in brokering this agreement. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President JD Vance reported that they had spent the night in talks with top leaders from both India and Pakistan. Subsequent discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi led to the ceasefire agreement.
Pakistan's Actions Despite the Ceasefire
The ceasefire was announced on Saturday, but within hours, Pakistan violated it by sending drones. The Indian army quickly regained control of the situation, and normalcy was restored. However, this incident clearly indicates that trusting Pakistan remains difficult.
