Yusuf Pathan declines to join parliamentary team tasked with exposing Pakistan; TMC reiterates non-interference in central foreign policy.
Operation Sindoor: The Indian government recently took a significant step to strengthen its fight against terrorism. A decision was made to send an all-party parliamentary delegation to various countries to expose Pakistan's role in terrorism. This team includes Members of Parliament from several political parties, including the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress. Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP and former cricketer Yusuf Pathan was also initially included in this delegation. However, recent reports indicate that Yusuf Pathan has declined to participate.
Yusuf Pathan's refusal to join the delegation
The Trinamool Congress has clarified to the central government that neither Yusuf Pathan nor any other MP from the party will be part of this all-party delegation. The party stated that the nation's interests are paramount and they support the government's efforts to ensure national security. However, regarding foreign policy and such delegations, the TMC believes that the central government holds sole responsibility, and the TMC will not interfere.
TMC's statement
In a statement, the TMC said, "We always stand in support of the nation's security and defense forces. Our party believes that foreign policy falls entirely within the purview of the central government. Therefore, the central government should take full responsibility in this matter, and we should not be involved." This statement clearly indicates the party's support for Pathan's decision.
India's plan to expose Pakistan – Operation Sindoor
Following the Pulwama terror attack last year, India launched a military operation codenamed Operation Sindoor. This operation resulted in the destruction of nine terrorist bases located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Tensions between the two countries have escalated since. Pakistan attempted retaliatory attacks in several locations following India's operation, but these were thwarted by Indian security forces.
Now, the Indian government plans to send a parliamentary delegation to several countries to convey its stance against terrorism to the global community. The aim is to expose Pakistan's actions to the world. This initiative seeks to foster international cooperation against terrorism and send a b message against countries that harbor terrorists.
Yusuf Pathan's reasons for declining
The specific reasons behind Yusuf Pathan's refusal to participate in the delegation have not been publicly disclosed. Sources suggest that Pathan cited personal or political reasons for declining the invitation. However, the TMC has clarified its respect for the central government's decision while maintaining its stance on non-interference in foreign affairs.
