Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)'s explosive opening batsman, Travis Head, has tested positive for the coronavirus and will therefore miss the IPL 2025 match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Monday.

Sports News: Sunrisers Hyderabad's explosive opening batsman, Travis Head, has contracted the coronavirus and will consequently be unable to participate in Monday's match against the Lucknow Super Giants. Sunrisers' head coach, Daniel Vettori, confirmed this on Sunday. He explained that Head's return to India has been delayed due to his exposure to COVID-19, resulting in an extended quarantine period. The team will therefore have to play the match without him.

Travis Head's Corona Test Positive

Coach Daniel Vettori stated, "Head will arrive in India Monday morning, but his travel has been delayed due to corona. We will conduct his medical examination and assess his health condition." However, he didn't specify when or where Head contracted the infection. The team's medical staff will continue to monitor Head's condition and quarantine period.

Head's absence is a significant blow to Sunrisers Hyderabad's batting lineup. He is known for his explosive batting and his ability to score crucial runs in important moments of the match. However, his performance this season has been somewhat weaker compared to last year. Head has scored 281 runs in 11 matches, while last season he amassed 567 runs in 15 matches, showcasing his exceptional talent.

SRH's Troubles Mount in IPL 2025

This season has been extremely challenging for Sunrisers Hyderabad. The team is already out of the playoff race and now needs to leave a good impression in their remaining three group stage matches. After the Lucknow match, Hyderabad will face Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Head's absence will put additional pressure on the team's batting.

This year's IPL postponement for a week also caused concern for Sunrisers. This decision was taken due to escalating political tensions between India and Pakistan. During this period, Travis Head and team captain Pat Cummins returned to Australia. There was uncertainty regarding the return of both players to the IPL, but Sunrisers officially confirmed that Head and Cummins would return for the remaining matches of IPL 2025.
