The Ministry of Railways has announced the launch of a 'Namo Bharat Rapid Train' service between Gaya and Ayodhya. This train is not only a boon for pilgrims but will also significantly enhance regional connectivity.
Patna: Bihar is set to receive another major gift from the central government. A 'Namo Bharat Rapid Rail' service will soon be launched between Gaya and Ayodhya, revolutionizing travel for both religious pilgrims and ordinary passengers. This will be the state's second rapid rail service, considered highly significant from religious, cultural, and social perspectives.
This high-speed train will cover the 408-kilometer distance in just six hours, establishing a new and robust link between Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. The Ministry of Railways has paid special attention to making this service environmentally friendly and affordable for the common people.
A Fusion of Faith and Modernity
This rapid rail connects two major religious sites: Gaya, with its mythological significance linked to Lord Vishnu, and Ayodhya, revered as the birthplace of Lord Rama. This service will prove to be a boon for devotees. DK Jain, President of the Grand Card Passenger Association, welcomed the move, stating that it fulfilled a long-standing demand. Direct and faster rail connectivity between pilgrimage sites like Gaya, Kashi, and Ayodhya will benefit not only pilgrims but also boost regional tourism.
High Speed, Enhanced Convenience
The 'Namo Bharat Rapid Rail' will operate six days a week (excluding Sundays). It will depart from Gaya Junction at 5:00 AM and arrive in Ayodhya by 11:00 AM. The return train will depart from Ayodhya at 5:00 PM and reach Gaya by 11:00 PM. The total travel time will be just 6 hours, approximately half the time taken by existing services.
The train will have 16 air-conditioned coaches, all unreserved. This will make the service convenient for passengers who are unable to make advance reservations. Furthermore, the AC coaches will ensure comfortable travel even in hot and humid weather.
Which Stations Will the Train Halt At?
This rapid rail service will stop at several major stations, including Rafiganj, Sasaram, DDU Junction (Mughalsarai), Kashi, Varanasi, Jaunpur, Shahganj, Akbarpur, and Goshainganj. Halts at these stations will benefit passengers from other regions. According to initial estimates by the Ministry of Railways, the fare for this AC unreserved service will be around ₹500. This rate has been set to ensure accessibility for all passengers, from common travelers to pilgrims. This service will offer a new option for fast, accessible, and affordable travel.
It is noteworthy that this will be Bihar's second Namo Bharat Rapid Rail service. The previously launched Jaynagar-Patna rapid service has gained significant popularity. The new service will directly connect Gaya to the birthplace of Lord Rama, giving a new impetus to the state's religious, social, and tourism development.
