India has once again demonstrated its zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism. On the night of May 6th, the Indian Armed Forces launched 'Operation Sindoor', targeting terrorist bases in Pakistan-administered Kashmir (PoK).
Weapons Used in Operation Sindoor: In a daring and strategic military operation on the night of May 6th, the Indian Army destroyed nine terrorist bases within Pakistan. This mission, codenamed Operation Sindoor, showcases India's decisive stance against terrorism. The operation aimed to eliminate bases used for plotting attacks against India.
The Indian Army employed state-of-the-art weaponry in this strike. SCALP missiles, fired from Rafale fighter jets, known for their long range and precision, were utilized. Additionally, India's BrahMos supersonic cruise missile was deployed. It was clarified that precision weapons were used to minimize collateral damage.
The Deadly Combination of Rafale and SCALP
In this operation, Indian Air Force Rafale fighter jets utilized the French-made long-range SCALP missile. The SCALP missile has a range exceeding 500 kilometers and is renowned for its accuracy, effectively destroying terrorist command and control centers.
The Lethal Combination of Sukhoi and BrahMos
Along with Rafale, Sukhoi Su-30 MKI fighter jets were also deployed. These aircraft were armed with BrahMos, India's most reliable supersonic cruise missile. BrahMos boasts a speed of Mach 2.8, approximately three times the speed of sound, making it nearly impossible for any target to evade.
The BrahMos missile is a joint Indo-Russian venture. Its unique feature lies in its tri-service capability: the Army uses it for land-to-land strikes, the Air Force deploys it from fighter jets, and the Navy uses it on its warships.
Deployment of Mirage-2000 and Spice-2000
Operation Sindoor also saw the deployment of Mirage-2000 aircraft, previously used in the Balakot airstrike. These aircraft delivered Spice-2000 smart bombs, based on Israeli technology. These bombs are equipped with GPS guidance systems, capable of highly accurate targeting.
First Use of Harop Drones
Significantly, the Indian Air Force also used Israeli "Harop" loitering munitions for the first time. This is a type of 'kamikaze drone' that tracks its target and self-destructs upon impact. The drone can loiter for extended periods, striking only after target confirmation. India procured these drones from Israel in 2021, and their successful military application is now evident.
Precision Strike
The Indian military targeted only terrorist bases in this operation. The high precision weaponry ensured no civilian casualties or damage to civilian infrastructure. The strike was entirely consistent with international law and undertaken under the right of self-defense. Through Operation Sindoor, India has once again made it clear that it will hunt down terrorists in their lairs and will not compromise on national security at any cost. This operation represents India's growing strength strategically, technologically, and diplomatically.
