Punjab Blast News: A devastating explosion rocked a firecracker factory in Muktsar Sahib district, Punjab, late at night, causing widespread panic. The incident resulted in the tragic deaths of four workers and left 27 others seriously injured. The blast was so powerful that the factory's two-story building was completely destroyed, trapping several workers under the rubble. Police and administration teams immediately arrived on the scene, and rescue and relief operations are underway. The entire area is shrouded in grief and fear following this devastating event.
Powerful Blast in the Middle of the Night
The explosion occurred around 12:50 AM at a firecracker factory located in Singhewala-Futuhiwala village near the Longowal area of Muktsar Sahib. Eyewitnesses reported that the blast was so loud it was heard kilometers away. The factory building collapsed like a house of cards following the explosion. Panic ensued, and nearby residents fled their homes in fear.
Injured Taken to Bathinda AIIMS
The injured were immediately rushed to Bathinda AIIMS for treatment, with several workers reported to be in critical condition. Most of the injured are believed to be laborers from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar who had come to work at the factory.
Questions Raised about Factory Owner and Contractor's Role
Reports suggest that the factory is owned by a man named Tarsem Singh, and the firecracker manufacturing operations were overseen by a contractor, Rajkumar, from Hathras, Uttar Pradesh. Rajkumar has reportedly fled the scene after the accident, raising several questions. The police are searching for the contractor and are also questioning the factory owner.
Firecracker Boxes and a Vehicle Found at the Site
A large number of firecracker boxes were found at the site following the accident. A small truck (Haryana registration) containing empty firecracker boxes was also recovered, suggesting large-scale production and supply operations were underway at the factory.
Rescue and Relief Operations Underway
Upon receiving information about the incident, SSP Dr. Akhil Chaudhary, SP (D) Manmeet Singh, DSP Jaspal Singh of Longowal, and in-charge of Killianwali police station, Karmjit Kaur, along with their police teams, arrived at the scene. The Green S Force team of Dera Sacha Sauda is also assisting in the relief efforts, using a hydro machine to remove the debris. Three bodies have been recovered so far, and rescue operations continue.

According to local administration, the factory had the necessary approvals. However, the extent of firecracker production and storage raises concerns regarding safety standards. An investigation will determine the adequacy of safety measures at the factory and whether safety equipment was provided to the workers.

Preliminary investigations suggest that a spark or technical malfunction during the manufacturing process may have caused the explosion. However, the exact cause will only be determined after a thorough investigation. The police have registered a case and are investigating all aspects of the accident.

They argue that operating a firecracker factory near a populated area is dangerous and that the administration should have taken stricter action earlier.
