India Pakistan Conflict: Amidst escalating military tensions between India and Pakistan, China has appealed to both countries to maintain restraint and establish peace. In a statement released on Saturday, the Chinese Foreign Ministry urged both sides to exercise patience and resolve the issue through dialogue. This statement comes at a time of heightened tension between the two nations, particularly following the Pulwama terror attack on April 22nd.
China's Appeal for Peace
A spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry stated, "We urge both countries to exercise patience, keeping peace and stability in mind, and to find a solution to this issue through dialogue." China also emphasized the need to avoid any misunderstandings or provocations, as these could destabilize the entire region. China further clarified the importance of both nations refraining from any actions that could escalate the situation.
Rising Tensions Between India and Pakistan
Tensions between India and Pakistan recently escalated after India conducted precise strikes on terrorist launchpads in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir (PoK). In response, Pakistan launched retaliatory actions targeting 26 locations, including airports and airbases from Jammu and Kashmir to Gujarat. While the Indian Army and security forces successfully repelled these attacks, the incident heightened tensions.
India Expresses Concern Over Chinese Media
Meanwhile, the Indian embassy in Beijing expressed concern over certain Chinese state media posts that prominently featured claims made by the Pakistani military. In a social media post on May 7th, the Indian embassy cautioned the Chinese media, stating, "Beware of outdated images being deceptively shared in the context of the current situation."
