Due to the heatwave and a temperature of 45.5°C in Rewari, the education department has revised school timings. Classes from first to eighth will now be held from 7 AM to 12 PM.
School Timings Changed: The scorching heat continues unabated in Rewari district. On Wednesday, the maximum temperature recorded was 45.5 degrees Celsius, the hottest day of the season so far. The sky feels like it's raining fire, and the wind has turned into hot blasts. Fans, coolers, and air conditioners are all blowing hot air. Stepping out has become difficult for the general public.
Changes in School Timings
Considering the extreme heat, the education department has implemented immediate changes to school timings. Schools for classes 1st to 8th will now operate from 7 AM to 12 PM. This decision came into effect on Thursday and will remain in place until further notice.
District Administration's Instructions
Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Meena has instructed the District Education Officer (DEO) office to disseminate this information to all school principals through Block Education Officers. School teachers and staff, however, will remain at school until 1:30 PM.
Guidelines Regarding Students' Health
District Education Officer Subhash Chand Sambharia stated that special instructions have been given to school principals, keeping children's health in mind:
- Packets of ORS solution must be available and prepared in the school.
- Children will be given water before being dismissed for the day.
- No physical activity will be conducted in the sun.
- All children will be encouraged to cover their heads with cotton cloth or a handkerchief.
Warning from Health Experts
Doctors and health experts are continuously issuing warnings due to the heat. People, especially children, the elderly, and those with weak immunity, are advised not to go outside during the day (12 PM to 3 PM). Regular consumption of fluids like water, lemonade, and ORS is also recommended. Covering the head and carrying a water bottle are considered mandatory when going outdoors.

On Wednesday, the maximum temperature was 45.5 degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature was 26 degrees Celsius. Prior to this, on May 17th, the temperature reached 45.6 degrees Celsius, but the minimum temperature that day was 23.8 degrees. The temperature has risen sharply over the past seven days, making the last week of May more challenging than usual this year.
Comparison with Last Year
So far this May, 11.80 mm of rainfall has been recorded, whereas last year, less than 2 mm of rain fell during the entire month. Comparing temperatures, there isn't a significant difference between last year and this year, but the intensity of the heatwave and hot winds is being felt more bly.
