As of May 5th, 2025, the price of 24-carat gold has dropped to ₹93,954, and silver to ₹94,125 per kilogram. Prices may vary across different cities.

Gold-Silver Price: A significant decline in gold and silver prices was observed on Monday, May 5th, 2025. This softening of precious metal rates at the beginning of the week brings relief to investors and buyers. According to the latest data from the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA), 24-carat pure gold has reached ₹93,954 per 10 grams, lower than the previous session. Similarly, the price of silver has fallen to ₹94,125 per kilogram. This marks the second consecutive day of weakening prices for both metals.

Gold Prices Across Different Carats

According to today's rates, 24-carat pure gold is selling at ₹93,954 per 10 grams. Meanwhile, 22-carat gold has reached approximately ₹86,062. Prices for 18-carat and 14-carat gold have also decreased. Market experts attribute these fluctuations to the strengthening US dollar in the global market and investor caution.

Silver Prices Also Weaken

Not just gold, but silver prices have also experienced a decline. On Monday, 999 purity silver fell to ₹94,125 per kilogram. This change is attributed to slightly sluggish domestic demand and a drop in international prices.

Prices Across Different Cities in India

Slight variations in gold prices have been observed across major metropolitan cities in India. In cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Patna, and Jaipur, the price of 22-carat gold remained around ₹89,000 to ₹89,540 per 10 grams. Meanwhile, 24-carat gold was observed near ₹97,500 in most cities. These prices are updated daily, morning and afternoon, and may include local taxes and making charges.

Understanding Gold Purity and Its Importance

Purity is crucial when buying gold. 24-carat gold is considered the purest, with 99.9% purity. However, it is not used in jewelry making due to its softness. 22-carat gold, with 91.6% purity, is commonly used for jewelry. 18-carat, 14-carat, and 9-carat gold are also used, especially in lighter jewelry and designer pieces.
