India's Medal Hopes Dashed at ISSF World Cup in Munich

India faced disappointment on a crucial day at the ISSF World Cup in Munich, Germany. Experienced shooters Manu Bhaker and Chain Singh reached the finals but fell short of a podium finish, resulting in India failing to win a single medal on Wednesday.

ISSF World Cup 2025: Despite high expectations, India failed to win any medals in the ISSF World Cup matches on Wednesday, June 11, 2025. Paris Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker and veteran shooter Chain Singh reached the finals of their respective events but were unable to secure a podium place.

Manu Bhaker's Strong Start, Weak Finish

Significant hopes were placed on Olympic veteran Manu Bhaker. She performed bly in the qualification round of the 25m pistol event, achieving fifth place with a score of 588. Her qualification round included 290 points in the precision round and 298 in the rapid fire round, showcasing her experience and consistency.

However, her performance in the final did not meet expectations. After reaching the third elimination round, Bhaker lost her rhythm and finished sixth with only 20 points, exiting the competition.

List of Medal Winners

China's Sun Yujie won the gold medal with 38 points. South Korea's Oh Yejin secured silver with 36 points, and Yang Jin won bronze with 32 points. This demonstrates the continued dominance of Asian shooters on the world stage. Veteran Indian shooter Chain Singh qualified sixth in the men's 50m rifle 3-positions event with 592 points, securing a place in the final.

Chain Singh, who recently won a bronze medal at the ISSF World Cup in Buenos Aires, Argentina, was also expected to perform well. However, his aim faltered in the final round, and he finished seventh out of eight finalists. He became the second competitor to be eliminated, dashing another of India's medal hopes.

Performance of Other Indians

Swapnil Kusale, a Paris Olympic bronze medalist, finished 38th with 587 points. Ankush Jadhav scored only 580 points and finished 67th. On Tuesday, however, India won a bronze medal in the women's 10m air rifle event, courtesy of Elavenil Valarivan. This remains India's only medal in this World Cup.
