Viral Video Exposes the Incident
A video from June 12, 2025, surfaced on social media, showing police from Nawabganj and Kohna police stations conducting a raid to apprehend a wanted criminal. However, the video also showed the criminal being helped to escape just before the raid. The police officers' actions appeared highly suspicious.
Investigation Reveals Suspicious Conduct
Taking the viral video seriously, the DCP ordered an investigation, assigning it to the Assistant DCP, Colonelganj. The investigation revealed that Sub-Inspector Aditya Bajpai and Constable Vijay Raj had assisted the criminal's escape. The CCTV footage confirmed this.
Suspicious Actions Visible in Footage
The CCTV footage clearly shows Chowki Incharge Aditya Bajpai arriving on a motorcycle with his colleague, Constable Vijay Raj, approaching the accused, Anoop Shukla. Anoop, carrying a bag, appears to be expecting them. Aditya gestures to him, after which Anoop leaves. When the police force arrives shortly after, Anoop is gone.
Who is Anoop Shukla?
Anoop Shukla is an active member of the notorious Dhinu Upadhyay alias Dheeraj gang, currently imprisoned. Police sources state he was wanted in several cases and had been the subject of a long-term manhunt. On June 12th, a joint team from Nawabganj and Kohna police stations attempted to arrest him, but he was aided in his escape.
FIR Filed Against Sub-Inspector and Constable
Following the investigation, the DCP swiftly suspended both police personnel and filed FIRs against them. Police stated that any officer or employee who tarnishes the department's image will not be spared.
