Security forces launch major operation against Maoists in Narayanpur, Chhattisgarh
Chhattisgarh: Security forces have achieved their biggest success yet in an ongoing anti-Maoist operation in Narayanpur, a Naxal-affected district of Chhattisgarh. A major encounter between security forces and Maoists raged in the Jatlur forests of Abujmadh since Wednesday morning, resulting in the confirmed deaths of over 30 Naxalites. One security personnel also lost their life during the encounter.
How did security forces get information about the Naxalites?
According to Superintendent of Police Prabhat Kumar, intelligence reports indicated Maoist activity in the Maad Division area. Following this, security forces, in a coordinated effort involving teams from Narayanpur, Dantewada, Bijapur, and Kondagaon districts, launched a search operation in Abujmadh. As the forces encircled the area Wednesday morning, Maoists opened fire. Security forces retaliated, and the encounter lasted several hours.
Maoists killed in the encounter
After the firing ceased, the search operation was intensified. Security forces recovered numerous weapons, explosives, Maoist literature, and other materials from the site. The process of identifying the deceased Maoists is underway. Police say that several senior commanders and rewarded Naxalites may be among the dead.
Salute to the martyred soldier
One security personnel was martyred during this operation. Their sacrifice has been mourned by the security forces and the local administration. While the soldier's identity has not yet been released, their family has been informed. Their sacrifice will be remembered by the nation.
Encounter in Bijapur
Earlier last week, an encounter between security forces and Maoists took place in the Karreguta area of Bijapur district, resulting in the death of five Naxalites. This operation occurred on the border of Chhattisgarh and Telangana, where Naxalites have been active for a long time. A joint team of CRPF, Telangana Police, and local security forces participated in that operation.
Joint operation across three states
To ensure the success of the anti-Naxal operation, joint teams from Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, and Telangana are working together. Thousands of personnel have been deployed in the forests. Drone surveillance, satellite imagery, and an intelligence network are being used to monitor Maoist activities. This operation is being described as the largest anti-Naxal operation in the history of the country.
