JDU leader Lalan Singh criticizes Lalu and Tejashwi Yadav for claiming credit for caste census, demands proof of parliamentary demand.
Bihar Politics: Bihar's political scene has once again heated up over the issue of caste census. This time, Janata Dal United (JDU) senior leader and Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan, alias Lalan Singh, launched a scathing attack on RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav and Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav. Lalan Singh alleged that Lalu Yadav never demanded a caste-based census in Parliament but is now attempting to take credit for it.
Open challenge to Tejashwi Yadav
Lalan Singh challenged Tejashwi Yadav to produce any video evidence showing Lalu Prasad Yadav demanding a caste-based census in Parliament. He asserted that Nitish Kumar consistently raised this issue in Parliament, while Lalu Yadav never seemed serious about it.
Nitish Kumar's demand since 2011
Lalan Singh stated that in 2011, Nitish Kumar met the then Prime Minister and V.P. Singh, demanding a caste census. However, the demand could not be immediately implemented as the census process had already begun.
Serious allegations regarding 2005 events
Referring to a 2005 incident, Lalan Singh claimed that when Nitish Kumar was about to form the government in Bihar, Lalu Yadav, then Railway Minister, used his influence at the center to impose President's Rule in Bihar, pressuring Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
"Only Nitish Kumar has the right to take credit"
Lalan Singh questioned the basis on which Lalu Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav are claiming credit for the central government's decision to conduct a caste census. He alleged that Lalu Yadav's agenda has always been family-centric rather than focused on social justice.
