Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered the use of cow dung-based natural paint in Uttar Pradesh's government buildings and the provision of cows to impoverished families lacking livestock under a government scheme.

UP News: The Uttar Pradesh government has taken a significant step, deciding to paint all government office buildings with natural paint made from cow dung. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, during a review meeting of the Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Department, instructed officials to make the use of cow dung-based paint mandatory in government buildings. He also directed an increase in the number of such paint plants across the state.

Self-Reliant Cow Shelters

CM Yogi stated the need to make the state's destitute cow protection centers self-sufficient. The cow dung collected at these centers will be used to produce organic fertilizer, natural paint, and other cow-based products. This will not only increase the centers' income but also provide environmentally friendly products.

Benefits of Natural Paint

According to officials, cow dung paint is entirely organic and chemical-free. It is environmentally friendly, gives walls a rustic look, and is cheaper than conventional paint. It also conserves energy and is safe for health.

Livestock for Poor Families

The Chief Minister also ordered that cows be provided to poor families without livestock under the Chief Minister's Destitute Cow Participation Scheme. This will improve their nutritional levels and provide a sustainable source of income.

Employment Opportunities for Women

CM Yogi appreciated the role of women's self-help groups, stating that rural women will be made self-reliant by producing fertilizer, paint, and other products from cow dung. Plants are being set up in Bareilly district with the cooperation of IFFCO Aavlan, boosting women's empowerment.

Increased Milk Production and Economic Growth

In 2024-25, Uttar Pradesh recorded a daily milk production of 3.97 lakh liters, a 10% increase. The sector had a turnover exceeding ₹1120 crore. The government aims to establish 4922 new dairy committees and provide training to 21922 committees by 2025-26. Additionally, competitions for indigenous cow breeds will be held, and excellent cow shelters will be rewarded.
