Simmi Chaudhary was an aspiring model who was making a name for herself acting in Haryanvi songs. She lived with her sister, Neha, in Satkaratar Colony, Panipat, and frequently traveled for shoots. On June 14th, she went to Ahar village in the Matloda police station area for a song shoot. However, Simmi was not destined to return home that day.
When Simmi didn't return home that night, her sister filed a missing person report at the Matloda police station. The police launched an investigation, and the next morning, the body of a young woman with sharp weapon injuries to her throat and hands was found in the NCR water channel near Khanda village in the Kharkhoda police station area of Sonipat. The body was soon identified as Sheetal, alias Simmi.
The Secret Behind the Murder: Love, Betrayal, and Obsession
The police investigation revealed that Simmi was murdered by her acquaintance, Sunil, a resident of Israna, Panipat, and a father of two. Preliminary investigations indicate that Sunil was pressuring Simmi to marry him, while Simmi recently discovered that Sunil was already married. After this revelation, Simmi distanced herself from him, which angered Sunil.
Around 11 pm on June 14th, Simmi video-called her sister, Neha, and reported that Sunil was assaulting her. Minutes later, the call dropped, and the phone was switched off. This was the last time Neha heard her sister's voice.
Attempt to Disguise the Murder as an Accident
After the murder, Sunil cleverly planned to make it appear accidental. He also threw his i20 car into the canal to suggest a car accident. He swam to safety and admitted himself to a hospital in GT Road Siwah. However, under intense police questioning, his lies began to unravel.
According to the post-mortem report and crime scene information, Simmi was murdered by having her throat slit. Wounds from a sharp weapon were found on her body. The water channel was chosen to dispose of the body to destroy evidence.
Simmi Was Also a Mother, Living a Separate Life
According to the family, Simmi was married and had a young son who lives with her husband. She had been living separately from her husband for some time and was pursuing a career in modeling. During this time, she befriended Sunil. The family alleges that Sunil was pressuring her to marry him, which she refused. Enraged by this rejection, Sunil took this heinous step.
Simmi's last rites were performed on Monday at the Kishanpura cremation ground in Panipat. The entire neighborhood mourned, and family members cried out for the accused to receive the death penalty. DSP Satish Kumar stated that the accused, Sunil, has been arrested and will be produced in court for police remand to fully investigate the truth behind the murder.
