Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav launched a scathing attack on the NDA government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, while speaking to reporters in Patna.
Patna: Amidst Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Bihar, Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav once again vehemently criticized the NDA government and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Tejashwi particularly mocked the government's claims of being anti-nepotism, stating that commissions in Bihar have been transformed into a system based on familial relationships.
In a conversation with reporters, Tejashwi Yadav sarcastically remarked, "We've said it before, create special commissions—a son-in-law commission, a brother-in-law commission, and now even a spouse commission. It will seem like Bihar is not being governed, but celebrating an engagement ceremony."
NDA's Double Standards on 'Nepotism'?
Responding to Prime Minister Modi's statements on nepotism, Tejashwi Yadav countered that Modi should first examine the state of his own alliance. Tejashwi directly alluded to the recent appointments of relatives of leaders in the Child Protection Commission, Fishermen's Commission, Minority Commission, and Upper Caste Commission. He alleged that:
- Chirag Paswan's brother-in-law has been given a position in a commission.
- Jitan Ram Manjhi's son-in-law has also been accommodated.
- Even the husband of a Member of Parliament has been given a post.
- And even officers are busy accommodating their spouses.
- Tejashwi also claimed that people are being appointed from an "RSS quota." He questioned,
- He wants to know from the Chief Minister how many ministers are from the RSS quota? Is this democracy or an expansion office of an organization?
'Modi should come, but answer the questions'
Tejashwi stated that nobody objects to Prime Minister Modi's visit to Bihar, but when he comes, he "only abuses and leaves." He questioned what the Modi government has given Bihar in the last 11 years? What happened to the sugar mills? Not a single mill has been restarted. Youth haven't got jobs, no relief has been given on inflation, and development has been limited to announcements.
6 New Airports for Bihar, Tejashwi Raises Questions Again
The recent cabinet meeting approved the development of 6 new small airports. Tejashwi Yadav said that all this was decided in the 2015 government. Just building airstrips won't get those using flip-flops onto airplanes. Ticket prices are skyrocketing. The Prime Minister should answer what happened to the promises of the UDAN scheme.
He also said that mere infrastructure development does not lead to socio-economic development unless the government takes concrete steps on issues like employment, education, and health.
Tejashwi on Nishant Kumar's Entry – 'It's a democracy, welcome'
Responding to questions about the potential entry of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's son, Nishant Kumar, into politics, Tejashwi Yadav gave a restrained answer instead of a sarcastic one. "It's a democracy; whoever wants to enter can. But the question is who works amongst the people and who only wants to do politics based on their name."
