New Liquid Glass Design

watchOS 26 introduces a brand-new Liquid Glass Design. The Smart Stack, Control Center, notifications, in-app controls, and navigation all feature a refreshed visual style. Photo watch faces will also appear more visually appealing with the Liquid Glass aesthetic.

AI Workout Buddy – Your Personal Fitness Coach

Apple has introduced an AI-powered feature – Workout Buddy. This feature provides real-time guidance, motivational comments, and performance highlights during workouts based on your past fitness data. Upon workout completion, it provides a comprehensive performance review.

  • This feature works with Bluetooth headphones and Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhones.
  • It supports sessions such as running, walking, cycling, HIIT, and strength training.
  • Currently available in English only.

Wrist Flick Gesture – Dismiss Notifications Without Touch

watchOS 26 introduces a new wrist flick gesture allowing you to dismiss notifications with a simple wrist rotation. This feature is particularly useful when your hands are occupied and you cannot touch the screen.

Smart Music + Workout Integration

The updated Workout app features four shortcut buttons in each corner, allowing you to:

  • Create custom workouts
  • Control features like Pacer and race routes
  • Control music and podcasts

Additionally, Apple Music will now suggest playlists based on your workout type and preferences.

Smart Stack: Smarter Than Ever

watchOS 26's Smart Stack now makes more relevant predictions based on contextual data (such as sensor input and user daily routines). You will see more relevant widgets and alerts tailored to your day.

Live Translation Feature – Messages in Your Language

watchOS 26, powered by Apple Intelligence, provides real-time translation of incoming text messages directly on your wrist. This feature is currently available only on:

  • Apple Watch Series 9
  • Apple Watch Series 10
  • Apple Watch Ultra 2

When Will the Update Be Available?

watchOS 26 is currently in beta and available to developers starting today. A public beta will be released in a few weeks, and the final version is expected to be released in September 2025 alongside the new iOS 26 for iPhone.
