The Indian government has restructured the National Security Advisory Board (NSAB). Former RAW chief Alok Joshi has been appointed as the chairman, and six new members have been added to the board. This decision was taken at a Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meeting.
High Level Meeting: In the face of escalating tensions with Pakistan, the government has taken a significant step by significantly restructuring the National Security Advisory Board (NSAB). Alok Joshi, former chief of the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), has been appointed as its chairman. Furthermore, six new members have been added to the board, including military officers such as former Air Commander Air Marshal P.M. Sinha, former Southern Army Commander Lieutenant General A.K. Singh, and Rear Admiral Monty Khanna.
Additionally, IPS officers Rajiv Ranjan Verma and Manmohan Singh have also joined the board. This restructuring is considered a crucial move towards a fresh perspective and faster decision-making in security matters.

This decision follows the escalating tensions with Pakistan and the recent Pulwama terrorist attack, which killed 26 innocent people, including a Nepali citizen. Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) at his residence to address this, where this crucial decision was made.
The Role of NSAB (National Security Advisory Board)
The NSAB is a specialized board comprising experts and eminent personalities from outside the government. Its primary objective is to provide the National Security Council with accurate analyses and recommend solutions and policy options for the challenges it faces. The board advises on government security policies and national security concerns.
Alok Joshi's Contribution and Career
Alok Joshi, former head of India's external intelligence agency, the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), is a veteran security expert. He served as RAW chief from 2012 to 2014 and led several crucial operations during his tenure. His expertise and leadership significantly strengthened India's security in various aspects.
Security Meetings Following the Pulwama Attack
Following the Pulwama terrorist attack, Prime Minister Modi has convened several meetings on security matters. Subsequently, meetings of the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs (CCPA) and the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) were also held. A full Cabinet meeting is also scheduled in the coming days to discuss security and other important issues.
