Amidst India-Pakistan Tensions, the U.S. Advises Citizens to Leave Pakistan. Drone activity in Lahore prompts instructions for American personnel to remain in secure locations.
Lahore: Amidst escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, the United States has issued a new travel advisory for its citizens in Pakistan. The U.S. government has urged its citizens to leave the country if possible. Those unable to depart are advised to relocate to secure locations immediately.
This advisory follows India's recent retaliatory action in response to an attack from Pakistan. Reports indicate that the U.S. consulate in Lahore has placed its officials and staff on high alert and instructed them to remain in secure locations.
Concerns of Threat in Lahore
The U.S. embassy has also reported initial indications of drone activity, explosions, and airspace incursions in and around Lahore. This has raised concerns about potential evacuations in areas surrounding Lahore airport. Embassy personnel are restricted from leaving and advised to exercise extreme caution.
Pakistan's Response Following Operation Sindur
India recently conducted "Operation Sindur," targeting terrorist bases in Pakistan-administered territories. In response, Pakistan attempted, unsuccessfully, to target Indian military installations in cities like Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Jalandhar, and Ludhiana with drones and missiles last night.
Subsequently, the Indian armed forces responded swiftly, targeting several locations in Pakistan, including key installations in Lahore.
Border Air Defense Units on High Alert
India has increased security in all border areas. Ministry of Defence officials have confirmed that air defense units are fully activated to respond immediately to any unforeseen circumstances. India has reiterated its desire to avoid conflict but will not hesitate to respond to any threat.
