Delhi-NCR to Experience Five Days of Heavy Rainfall

Relief is in sight for residents of Delhi-NCR. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy rainfall is expected in Delhi and the entire NCR region for the next five days.

Weather: The monsoon has gained momentum across the country, with showers predicted for several regions over the next seven days. The IMD's latest warning indicates light to heavy rainfall across various states, including Delhi, NCR, Jaipur, Agra, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Uttarakhand. Yellow and orange alerts have been issued for several states.

Five Days of Continuous Rain in Delhi-NCR, Risk of Lightning

Heavy rainfall is forecast for the national capital Delhi and surrounding areas from June 21st to 25th. The meteorological department has issued a yellow alert, urging people to remain vigilant. Light showers began Friday morning, bringing down temperatures in the capital.

  • The maximum temperature on June 21st is expected to be 37°C, and the minimum temperature 28°C.
  • Humidity will range between 80-82%.
  • Winds could gust at 30-40 km/h during rainfall.

Jaipur and Agra Also to Experience Rainfall; Monsoon Activates in Rajasthan

With the monsoon becoming active in eastern and central Rajasthan, particularly in Jaipur, Kota, Ajmer, and surrounding areas, increased rainfall activity is expected from June 22nd. Similar heavy rainfall is anticipated in Uttar Pradesh cities like Agra, Kanpur, and Lucknow. Continuous rainfall is likely in eastern Rajasthan and western Uttar Pradesh from June 20th to 24th. Agra and Jaipur have been issued alerts for heavy rain and lightning on Saturday.

Mountainous Regions to Receive Rainfall; Heavy Rainfall Alert for Shimla, Manali, and Uttarakhand

The monsoon is rapidly advancing in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, and Gilgit-Baltistan. The meteorological department has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall from June 22nd to 26th. Warnings of landslides and flash floods have been issued for mountainous districts in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. Those undertaking the Char Dham Yatra are advised to exercise extra caution.

Strong Monsoon Entry in UP and Bihar

The monsoon is expected to unleash its full force in eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar from June 20th to 24th. Orange alerts have been issued for cities including Patna, Varanasi, Gaya, and Darbhanga. Heavy rainfall is also anticipated in Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh from June 24th to 26th, with winds potentially reaching 40-50 km/h.

Heavy Rainfall in Maharashtra and Gujarat; Coastal Areas Should Remain Alert

Heavy rainfall is expected in Konkan, Goa, central Maharashtra, and Gujarat over the next week, with very heavy rainfall anticipated between June 22nd and 24th. Fishermen in coastal areas are advised against venturing into the sea. Cities like Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Surat, and Ahmedabad could experience waterlogging and traffic problems.

Showers Expected in South India

Rainfall is expected to continue for the next seven days in Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu. Heavy rainfall is anticipated in coastal and interior Karnataka from June 23rd to 26th. Strong winds and lightning are likely in Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, with winds potentially reaching 40-60 km/h, according to the meteorological department.

Heavy Rainfall to Continue in Northeast India

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected to continue for the next week in northeastern states such as Assam, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, and Nagaland. Landslides are also a concern in the hilly regions of Bengal and Sikkim. Rainfall activity will intensify in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands from June 21st.

The meteorological department bly advises against unnecessary travel in areas under heavy rainfall warnings. People should remain vigilant against lightning strikes and ensure the availability of essential supplies.
